For as long as I can remember, I have loved to draw. At the age of 10, I spent time at Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis and underwent a spinal fusion to correct a birth defect. My next six months and the majority of my 5th-grade year were spent in a body cast forcing me to be home schooled for much of that year. With a lot of free time on my hands and no place to go, I found my escape in art. I would draw whenever I found the chance, at times when I was forced to lay on my back, I would still find a way to draw with the use of prism glasses, allowing me to see my drawing pad while laying flat. At an age when most of my friends were turning to athletics, I was still forced to stay out of contact sports, and my escape remained my art. My youth was a time when I grew my love for art and design, and with the encouragement of family, friends, and teachers I continued to expand ways to utilize my creativity.

I enrolled at (Indiana University) Herron School of Art in Indianapolis, Indiana where I enjoyed my time studying under and amongst some amazing artists. While at Herron, I also worked at a landscape company and found enjoyment working outdoors and creating outdoor environments. Seeing another opportunity to utilize my creativity, I transferred schools and graduated from Vincennes University with a degree in Horticulture and Landscape Design.

Over the next (roughly) 25 years I continued to utilize my creative talents as a business owner and landscape designer. Throughout that time, many situations allowed myself and my team to design and build some amazing and challenging award winning projects. To this day, I am still heavily involved in the landscape industry, as I now utilize my talents in graphic design to create logos and branding, web sites, ground and aerial photography, and marketing materials for many companies in the green industry. As my career has developed, it has also seemed to come full circle and allow me more time and availability to spend doing what I love.

When I have the chance, I still enjoy putting pen or pencil to paper and sketching in the field (I only wish I had time for more of this). I have also developed a love for digital art. Ever intrigued by technology, the digital platform for developing 'traditional' art is a fantastic medium for me to work. Drawing and painting by hand digitally on a 27' monitor is amazingly life like and at times if it weren't for the lack of paint spills or turpentine fumes, you might not even know it wasn't 'real.'

I am thankful for my beautiful wife and amazing kids who encourage me and inspire me every day. They are truly a blessing.
